The Use of Photography
Written by Annie Ernaux and Marc Marie, narrated by Tavia Gilbert
OUT NOW!
An account of Annie Ernaux’s love affair with journalist Marc Marie while she was undergoing treatment for cancer, and their project to document images and memories.
First published in France in 2005, the book recounts a passionate love affair between Ernaux and the journalist and author Marc Marie, after the two met in January 2003. Ernaux had been receiving intensive chemo for breast cancer during the prior three months and had lost all her hair from the treatments. At the end of January, she had surgery, followed by radiation therapy.
The affair took place in different locations, and Ernaux describes how, shortly after it began, she found herself entranced each morning by the sight of clothes strewn about, chairs out of place and the remains of their last meal of the evening still on the table—and how painful it felt to put things back in order afterward. She went and got her camera, and began to take photographs of the scenes of disarray. When she told Marc Marie what she had done, he said he had felt the same desire.

Don’t Believe Her
Written by Nicola Sanders, narrated by Jodie Harris
Release October 15!
When my sister-in-law returns, she’s oddly evasive about her years as a runaway. Carla was my best friend, but no one will listen to my concerns.
My life has never been better. I have a beautiful little girl, and I am engaged to be married to the man I’ve had a crush on since I can remember.
So when Nick, my handsome fiancé, announces that his sister Carla is finally coming home, it’s truly the icing on the cake.
Carla was my best friend growing up until she ran away at sixteen. That was twelve years ago, and no one has seen her since.
Everyone is ecstatic about Carla’s return. But as I spend more time with her, I can’t shake the feeling that something isn’t right. Her behavior is a little off, her childhood memories don’t align with mine, and she’s oddly evasive about her lost years.
But no one will listen to my concerns—not Nick, not Carla’s mother, Marjorie, not even our old friends. They all say I’m imagining things.
But I can tell something is wrong. And before long, I know without a shadow of a doubt…
It’s not her.
The Widow’s Husband’s Secret Lie
Written by Freida McFadden, narrated by Marin Ireland
Releases October 22!
In this satirical thriller novella, a widow copes with her husband’s death—and his many, many deep, dark secrets.
My husband is dead.
I attended his funeral. I watched his casket be lowered six feet into the ground. (Actually, it may have been only five feet, but that still seems like more than enough.) And then we ate an array of finger sandwiches and deviled eggs and miniature beef wellingtons that cost more than my first car.
My point is, Grant is gone. And so are all his many, many deep, dark secrets which I never really ever bothered to ask him about. He is never coming back.
So why do I still see his face everywhere I go?
