Mowgli, the man-cub raised by wolves in Rudyard Kipling’s timeless classic “The Jungle Book” is the feature of this collection of beloved Kipling stories. The nine short stories and six poems that comprise the Mowgli canon include Mowgli’s Brothers, in which Mowgli is rescued from the wrathful tiger Shere Khan, and Kaa’s Hunting, in which the panther Bagheera warns Mowgli about the cunning python Kaa. These stories which were originally published between 1893 and 1894 trace the growth of Mowgli and his growing understanding of Baloo’s law of the jungle, many ideas of which were adapted by Baden Powell for the instruction of Boy Scouts, and are still in use today.
