An Opportunity for Teachers and Students
If you found a way to promote reading and writing in your classroom, while teaching your students a little about the publishing business, would you do it? What if I told you that, in addition, your kids could earn money for their class? Would you find that more appealing? If so, read on.
Recently, I spoke with a local 5th grade teacher about the work that I do. She asked me if it would be possible for her class to submit their poems and stories, and have them published in a book that they could provide to their family and friends. I agreed with her that this is an exciting way to instill the desire to read and write, plus offer a way for kids to see their stories in print.
Normally, I charge authors $49.95 to professionally publish their book. I have decided to waive that for the kids.
Remember I mentioned money for the class? I will not only publish their book, but the class will earn a royalty for each book sold, just like professional writers!
